harleen kaur is an artist by passion and profession.

born and raised in new jersey, usa, harleen spent her childhood immersed in the local sikh community. her work consists of images and typography inspired by her own faith journey and love for sikhi, and she wishes to share that love with those who are searching for it. as a sikh artist, she hopes to create work that can invoke thought, emotion, and can challenge the mold to which the world prescribes.

harleen works both digitally and traditionally in pen, ink and acrylic paint and more in an array of sizes, ranging from a sketchbook page to full wall murals. she specializes in custom artwork, fine art prints, and mural work.

through intimate to wide-audience art workshops, harleen also works to guide others to understand themselves, their sikhi, and their relationship with the guru. since she was a child, harleen has been drawn to expressing herself through her creativity, so sharing that tool with others has been an incredibly rewarding part of her journey.

in her professional past, harleen has worked at the sikh coalition full-time as the education & community engagement manager, where she worked with sikh youth and parents on both education initiatives, resource creation and community development. she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology at barnard college, columbia university, and has worked in pediatric neuropsychological research. she is passionate about destigmatizing mental health and illness in the sikh-immigrant community, advocating for culturally-competent and empowering mental healthcare, and often bridges her passions for mental health and art through her work. ultimately, her work is a vehicle for expressing her passions for sikhi, justice, and community.
